Ana Simoes trained as a Jeweller and Gem-Setter in Portugal before graduating from the BA (Hons) Jewellery course at The Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design - London Metropolitan University, in 2014. She also holds an MA in Design Management from Birmingham City University.
Ana has taken part in collaborative and solo exhibitions at renowned jewellery shows and fairs across the UK and Europe such as International Jewellery London, Schmuck in Munich, Legnica Jewellery Festival Silver, British Craft Trade Fair and Jewellery & Watch Birmingham, amongst others. Her wealth of experience as a designer-jeweller and educator resulted in the launch of Ana Simoes Jewellery in 2018. Her jewellery pays homage to her Portuguese and Moorish heritage, and to the country’s unique architecture. The colourful ornamental repeat patterns seen in Portuguese tiles are celebrated through the use of yellow gold and gemstones, Ana’s materials of choice. An avid user of computer-aided design (CAD), 3D printing and lost-wax casting; Ana combines traditional jewellery making techniques and contemporary design skills, to create timeless jewellery pieces with a distinctive aesthetic.
Ana supports students across the whole university. She is a specialist in fine metal jewellery.
