Florence Newsome

Student Recruitment Officer

After living in South Wales for 19 years, Florence came to Plymouth to study for her BA (Hons) in 3D Design: Spatial Awareness at Plymouth University. Throughout her studies, she developed an interest in creating and providing educational and inspirational spaces for students to learn, grow and develop. This led on to her pursuing her MA in Creative Education at Plymouth College of Art in 2017, throughout her masters degree she facilitated and designed outdoor play sessions at family festivals such as The Valley Fest, she also volunteered at Plymouth Arts Centre as a Creative Play Facilitator, where she helped organise, design and facilitate creative sessions for young children.

Throughout her studies Florence has held a variety of job roles from recruitment, freelance workshop facilitating, fundraising and customer engagement. She decided she wanted to stay in Plymouth after her educational studies and is now the Student Recruitment Officer for the Midlands and North at Plymouth College of Art. Within her role she develops strong relationships with feeder schools, plans and delivers practical workshops and provides guidance and support for students who wish to continue their studies into further and higher education. Florence has developed a strong ethos around introducing individuals to higher education, sharing her experiences and guiding students into making the right choice for them.
