Liz Jakowyszyn

Liz Jakowyszyn is a textile designer who has a passion for art and design, and is always broadening her subject knowledge through private practice and research.

Liz graduated from Winchester School of Art with a BA(Hons) in Textile Design, where she specialized in woven textiles. After finishing university Liz moved to London where she worked for a menswear company designing woven and printed textiles as well as graphics for a variety of customers that included Fat Face, Topman, French Connection and many more. By the time Liz left she was Senior Designer. This role had involved her training new members of staff, which highlighted an interest in teaching that she decided to explore further.

Alongside this, Liz worked as a freelance womenswear textile designer selling work internationally through an agent. She also had a small textile stationary business, selling in London Markets on Brick Lane.

After relocating back to the South West, Liz joined Arts University Plymouth in 2011 as a teaching assistant, and in 2012 started studying for the Post Graduate Certificate in Education for the Lifelong Learning Sector at Plymouth University, continuing to work with the BTEC Fashion and Textiles team and students as part of her placement.

Liz maintains industry links which she is keen to use in order to help students develop.
