Arts University Plymouth recognised for high graduate start-up opportunities
Wednesday, 11 December, 2024 — Arts University Plymouth has been recognised for achieving ‘very high’ local growth, regeneration and graduate start-up opportunities in a recent announcement by official Higher Education body, GuildHE.
<p dir="ltr">The announcement comes as new data is released from <a href="https://www.ukri.org/councils/research-england/">Research England’s</a> fourth iteration of the <a href="https://kef.ac.uk/">Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF)</a>, a set of research that measures and summarises the benefits that Higher Education organisations’ knowledge exchange activities with external partners are bringing to both the economy and society <br /></p>
<p dir="ltr">In the new research, Arts University Plymouth has ranked in the top third of GuildHE members included within the framework, achieving very high engagement results for the metric on graduate start-ups and continuing professional development.<br /></p>

<p dir="ltr">Referred to as a ‘notable success’ by GuildHE, the University’s recognition showcases our work as one of the institutions “delivering innovative new business, lifelong learning and a diversity of skills to regions across the UK”.<br /></p>
<p dir="ltr">Responding to the announcement, Ian Hutchinson, Head of Development and Innovation at Arts University Plymouth said: “It’s fantastic to be recognised as one of the top organisations bringing new growth and start-up opportunities to the region. We have invested a lot into the professional development of our students and alumni, including launching our new creative business incubator, Workroom, which we hope continues to develop and grow the innovators and creatives the world needs more than ever.”</p>

<p dir="ltr">As <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c870zpwggv1o">featured by the BBC</a>, Art University Plymouth’s creative business incubator has already seen success, <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/posts/graduate-designer-launches-luxury-sustainable-fashion-line-with-princess-yachts-in-cannes">with Workroom resident and Arts University Plymouth Creative Associate Megan Trapnell</a> recently gaining international recognition for her work launching sustainable luxury fashion line, <a href="https://dartandgrey.co.uk/">Dart & Grey</a>, with Princess Yachts at Cannes Yachting Festival. <br /></p>
