UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art & Design
Develop your individual creative voice and experience a diverse range of pathways including Fine Art, Painting, Drawing & Printmaking and 3D design through this flexible programme of creative practice.
The full title of this award qualification is UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication. University of the Arts London (UAL) Awarding Body supports innovative approaches to programme design and specialist delivery models within broader contexts. Therefore Pre-Degree students at Arts University Plymouth are offered the opportunity to pick from five creative pathways including; Art & Design, Fashion & Textiles, Film, Animation & Media Production, Graphics, Illustration & Game Arts, and Photography.
This Level 3 Extended Diploma course is a two-year equivalent to A-levels, this flexible programme is focused on developing your individual voice within contemporary creative practice. Your projects will help you develop your visual language skills, creating personal outcomes in 2D, 3D and Time Based materials, while engaging with local and global issues and testing your creative problem-solving. Your final projects of Year 1 and Year 2 will give you the creative freedom to write your own brief, and forge your own path.
Our practical workshops including Printmaking, Drawing, Wood, Metal and Ceramic, will broaden your horizons and help you build a portfolio of skills and industry knowledge. In these industry led workshops you’ll experience a wide range of both traditional and contemporary materials, techniques and processes that will help you define and realise your creative potential.
Your practical work will be supported throughout by thought provoking contextual studies, guest lecturers and Live Briefs which will push your thinking further and develop your understanding of your place within the creative industries.
Pre Degree's Annual Summer Show offers students the opportunity to showcase their achievements to press, industry and the viewing public.
This contemporary and exciting course will allow you to develop your individual voice, supported in an art-based environment with the broadest range of technical facilities in the region. Our dedicated Pre-Degree campus will enable you to meet students from other creative pathways who you can collaborate with and see the full potential of working within a creative community.
We’ll also support you in building your professional employability skills such as presentation skills, written and communication skills, and portfolio development, resulting in you being confident and independent, and ready to progress into Higher Education or employment in your chosen field.
We normally offer places to students who have at least four GCSEs at grade 9 to 4 (A* to C) including English and preferably with one in a creative subject (or 9-4 in the new grading scheme), and who show commitment and enthusiasm for art and design through examples of creative work.
