Young Arts | Saturday Club 2023/24

Arts University Plymouth’s Young Arts programme was established in 1988. Young Arts feature the university's renowned Saturday Arts Clubs and for over 30 years has worked to bridge the gap in arts provision for young people created by increasingly limited access to creative activity in schools.

On this multi-activity 24 session Art, Design and Media course, you will work with various specialist tutors throughout the year in a series of arts based skills workshops and short projects. You will take part in a pop-up winter show, go to a gallery or other arts event and, at the end of the year, your work will be showcased as part of the annual Arts University Plymouth Summer Show with a private view event for you and your families with a certificate presentation.

Young Arts is for all children in school years 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. We will create smaller groups by age so that you are working with your peers.

You will be given a sketchbook to work in each week and you will make lots of finished works to take home throughout the course. For each block of activities, you will have one or more specialist tutor, and you will move around the projects in your group so that all students can try many different projects and creative mediums. What you do during each block of activities will depend on your own group, but each age group will do every activity during the year.

This year will include animation, printmaking, painting, pastel work, drawing, illustration techniques, digital photography, analogue photography, group artwork creation, 3D collage, digital graphics and fashion.

Please note: Sessions do not take place on Saturdays during in half term or during holiday periods.

Venue: Palace Court, Arts University Plymouth Pre-Degree & Sixth Form Campus, Buckwell Street, Plymouth, PL1 2DA

Other Young Arts courses can be found at aup.ac.uk/courses/young-arts
