Arts University Plymouth’s Young Arts programme was established in 1988. Young Arts feature the university's renowned Saturday Arts Clubs and for over 30 years has worked to bridge the gap in arts provision for young people created by increasingly limited access to creative activity in schools.
On this multi activity Art, Design and Media course you will work with various specialist tutors through the year in a series of arts based skills workshops and short projects. You will take part in a pop up winter show and at the end of the year your work will be showcased as part of the annual Arts University Plymouth Summer Show.
Young Arts is for all children in school years 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. We will select the groups by age so that you are working with your peers.
You will be given a sketchbook to work in each week and you will make lots of finished works to take home throughout the course. For each block of activities, you will have one or more specialist tutor, and you will move around the projects in your group so that all students can try many different projects and creative mediums.
This year will include: painting, sgraffito clay, paper mache sculpture, drawing, artistic photography, studio photography, photoshop editing, print or wax resist, collage, tones and reflections, abstract art and portraits.
Please note: No sessions take place on Saturdays in half term or during holiday periods!
Venue: Palace Court, Pre-Degree Campus, Buckwell Street, Plymouth, PL1 2DA
