<h3>Spectral Intelligence &amp; Creative Machines is a speaker series and university forum curated by <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/people/stephanie-owens">Professor Stephanie Owens</a>, exploring the relationship between mind and machine across creativity, network technology, systems consciousness and AI.</h3> <p>This spring event welcomes Honorary Fellow <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/people/ada-parris">Ada Parris</a> back to Arts University Plymouth for a keynote and roundtable exploring creativity, embodiment, civic debate and the role artists can play in shaping conversations about technology.</p><h2>You Are the Signal: why creative intelligence is embodied, not computed</h2> <p>Ada Parris’ keynote, <em>You Are the Signal: why creative intelligence is embodied, not computed,</em> considers how creativity is being defined in the context of AI, and why artists and creative practitioners need to be part of that debate.</p> <p>The talk will explore embodied knowledge, authorship, responsibility and the assumptions that shape technological futures, asking what forms of intelligence cannot be reduced to automation or simulation.</p> <p>Ada Parris is a keynote speaker, strategic advisor and anti-disciplinary artist whose work brings together technology, ecology and ancestral intelligence. She is Chair of Mental Health First Aid England, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and an Honorary Fellow of Arts University Plymouth.</p><h2>Roundtable: AI, democracy and civic debate</h2> <p>Following the keynote, Ada Parris will join <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/people/kirsty-smith">Dr Kirsty Smith</a> and <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/people/alanna-morgan">Alanna Morgan</a> for a roundtable on <em>AI, democracy and civic debate</em>.</p> <p>Together, the panel will consider how creative practitioners, educators and cultural producers can respond critically to technological change, and how public debate around AI is shaped by questions of voice, power and responsibility.</p> <p>Dr Kirsty Smith is a media anthropologist, photographer and Course Leader for <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/ba-hons-fashion-media-marketing">BA (Hons) Fashion Media &amp; Marketing</a> at Arts University Plymouth. Her work spans editorial and advertising photography, with clients including Nike, Adidas, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and the BBC.</p> <p>Alanna Morgan is a Lecturer for <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/ba-hons-fashion-media-marketing">BA (Hons) Fashion Media &amp; Marketing</a> at Arts University Plymouth.
