Celebrating 30 Under 30

Winners include current Student Union Manager Harriet Moore and Illustration lecturer Jack Viant as well as Craft & Material Practices and Pre-degree alumni
<p dir="ltr">Three staff members and two Arts University Plymouth alumni have been selected as winners of the Devon &amp; Plymouth Chamber of Commerce ‘30 Under 30’ awards this year.</p> <p dir="ltr">Lecturer <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/people/jack-viant">Jack Viant</a>, Student Union Manager <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/people/harriet-moore">Harriet Moore</a>, and Digital Content &amp; Social Media Officer Jenny Evans have been honoured as rising stars in the region as part of Devon &amp; Plymouth Chamber’s ‘30 Under 30’ awards. <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/ba-hons-craft-material-practices">BA (Hons) Craft &amp; Material Practices</a> graduate Bonnie Mustoe-Whitehill and <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/pre-degree/ual-level-3-extended-diploma-in-art-design">UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication</a> graduate Nina Westwood were also named as winners.<br /></p>

<p dir="ltr">Illustrator and designer Jack Viant, who graduated from Arts University Plymouth with a <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/ba-hons-illustration">BA (Hons) in Illustration</a> in 2015, joined the arts university last year as a Lecturer. Born and based in Plymouth, Jack specialises in children’s illustrations and is published by Bloomsbury, Miles Kelly, Hachette and Oxford University Press, and represented by the Bright Agency.</p> <p dir="ltr">Jack said: “It’s a delight to be included amongst a selection of such talented individuals. I’ve always lived in the south west and the community, entrepreneurship and energy here is something that I’m very happy to be a part of.”<br /></p>

<p dir="ltr">Harriet Moore graduated from Arts University Plymouth with a <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/ba-hons-photography">BA (Hons) in Photography</a> in 2020 and was elected as Student Union President before taking on her current role as Student Union Manager. Harriet is passionate about making positive changes in student life and is committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment at Arts University Plymouth. In 2022 Harriet was shortlisted for a Rising Stars award in the Education category.</p> <p dir="ltr">Harriet said: “I'm so grateful to have been selected as one of Devon and Plymouth Chamber’s ‘30 Under 30’. There are some amazing people on the list, and plenty of others around the county, so I feel honoured and surprised to have been selected for a second year running. I'm looking forward to attending the 2023 Devon &amp; Plymouth Chamber of Commerce Awards to hear more about the other winners!”<br /></p>

<p dir="ltr">Jenny Evans was recently appointed as Digital Content &amp; Social Media Officer at Arts University Plymouth. She is a young entrepreneur and artist who has worked with brands including WWT London Wetlands Centre, the British Dragonfly Society, and the National Marine Aquarium. Jenny won Santander’s University Entrepreneur's national competition in 2017 while studying textiles at Cardiff Metropolitan University, going on to set up a high growth, investor-backed business in 2018, managing a team of ten people across two offices.</p> <p dir="ltr">Jenny said: “I am absolutely delighted to be one of the winners for ‘30 under 30’. It's a privilege to be recognised in this way and being grouped with some amazing other young people makes me feel incredibly proud. Devon and particularly Plymouth, my hometown, has so much to offer. Thank you to the Chamber for organising and to this year's sponsor, Babcock.”<br /></p>

<p dir="ltr">Bonnie Mustoe-Whitehill is a mixed media artist who graduated from Arts University Plymouth with a First Class Honours in <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/ba-hons-craft-material-practices">BA (Hons) Craft &amp; Material Practices</a> in 2022. Last year she won the Runner-Up prize of £500 for New Designer of the Year for her work 'Complete Collection of Tactile Objects'.</p> <p dir="ltr">Bonnie said: “It's an honour that my achievements from the past year have been recognised and celebrated. I'm excited to see where this leads!”<br /></p>

<p dir="ltr">Nina Westwood is an artist and fashion designer who graduated in 2019 from Arts University Plymouth’s Pre-Degree campus, where she completed the <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/pre-degree/ual-level-3-extended-diploma-in-art-design">UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication</a>. In the same year Nina started the MINSKI clothing brand, which focuses on creating sustainable and funky clothing using a variety of hand crafting techniques. </p> <p dir="ltr">Nina said: “After working so hard to create my dream job for myself, it feels really rewarding to have the recognition and encouragement of being selected as one of Devon’s ‘30 under 30’. When facing challenges in the future, I can reflect on this achievement and know that I am on the right path!”<br /></p>

<p dir="ltr">The Devon &amp; Plymouth Chamber partnered with Babcock International Group for the second time to find and recognise individuals under 30 in Devon who have made a significant impact in the working world. The 30 selected winners represent some of the brightest minds in business and the future of industry in the South West. Congratulations to all of the 30 Under 30 winners from Arts University Plymouth and beyond.<br /></p>
