A mythbusting blog for parents, guardians and teachers to help you guide your young person through Clearing 2022
<p dir="ltr">Know a young person leaving sixth-form or college soon and hoping to progress onto a creative degree at HE level? Are they worried they’ll have to go through <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/clearing">Clearing</a>?</p> <p dir="ltr">Don’t worry, we are here to clear up any Clearing myths, and support applicants as they take the next step in their education journey.</p>
<p>Once your young person has decided they would like to apply through Clearing, they can fill out this super speedy form, and we'll contact them to discuss their options.</p>

Changed your mind about your original UCAS choice? Didn't get the results you expected? Made a last minute decision to go to uni? Clearing is for you!

<p dir="ltr"><a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/clearing">Clearing</a> is a process that matches applicants with universities and colleges that have places yet to be filled. It runs from <strong>5 July to 18 October, </strong>so there is plenty of time to make an application to study with us during Clearing. Clearing presents an opportunity for applicants who have: </p><ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">changed their minds about their original UCAS choice, </p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">declined their offers, </p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">not received the grades they expected, </p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">or made a last minute decision to start studying this autumn.</p></li></ul>

<p dir="ltr"><a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/clearing">Clearing</a> is an increasingly popular way for students to find their perfect course at University. So how can you help?</p><ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Encourage and help your young person to research courses and University options. We have <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate">14 diverse undergraduate courses </a>to choose from!</p></li></ul><ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Keep calm and talk them through their options. Attend a <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/posts/dont-miss-our-clearing-events">Clearing event</a> or <a href="https://crm.student-crm.com/e/pca/sa/tours-and-events/campus-tour" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Campus Tour</a> together to help them find out more about studying at Plymouth College of Art. We even have a <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/events">Parent, Guardian &amp; Supporter Advice session</a>, if you have any questions yourself.</p></li></ul><ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Make sure your young person has their UCAS number, grades and qualifications to hand and any questions they have about the course they’re interested in when they contact us.</p></li></ul><ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Then they can call our Clearing Hotline <strong>+44 (0) 1752 203402</strong> or <a href="https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=447722744184&amp;text=&amp;source=&amp;data=">Whatsapp 07722 744184</a> and our Admissions teams will help them with their next steps.</p></li></ul><ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Remember, you can't make the call for them, an applicant has to contact us themselves. However, you can help them prepare by mock interviewing them, discussing what questions they want to ask or re-reading their personal statement with them.</p></li></ul><ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Most importantly, keep positive! Going through Clearing can seem daunting at first, but there are still plenty of options to suit your young person’s interests and long-term ambitions.
