South West arts group Effervescent is about to open brand new gallery Radiant in the very heart of Plymouth – and have put out an open call for submissions from artists.

Effervescent is interested in work which is visually/sensorily arresting, intellectually engaging, emotionally hard hitting, socially pertinent.

They're looking submissions in any contemporary media, from visual art to film to fashion and illustration, and everything in between and beyond – with an initial selection of Friday 23rd May 2014.

With the first exhibition set to open on 19th August 2014, Effervescent will still be delighted to receive submissions over the next year so to programme from summer 2014 to autumn 2015.

"Submission is free and is open to students, graduates, emerging, mid and established artists.

"We are project-funded by ACE, and are committed to paying artists to show. The level of pay will depend on the type of exhibition, costs to install, and number of artists shown."
