Graphic Design students win Creative Conscience Awards

Wednesday, 19 February, 2025 BA (Hons) Graphic Design students from Arts University Plymouth won three prizes at the prestigious Creative Conscience Awards 2024/25, a competition celebrating creative projects that drive positive change in society. These achievements demonstrate the talent and drive of our hard-working students, as well as the course team’s commitment to fostering purposeful, impactful design.

<h2><strong>Student successes at the Creative Conscience Awards</strong></h2> <p dir="ltr"><strong>Jessika McCarron</strong> was awarded <strong>Silver</strong> in the Community category for her <strong>Plus 1 Campaign</strong>, a project supporting Leadworks CiC, a volunteer-run community hub in Plymouth’s Stonehouse area. Jessika’s campaign aims to tackle food waste through the Stonehouse Community Fridge, while also providing essential items such as nappies and sanitary products. Her work empowers local volunteers with actionable pledges, emphasizing the importance of community-led initiatives. <a href="https://www.creative-conscience.org.uk/winners/plus-1-campaign" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Read more about Jessika’s award-winning project here.</a></p> <p dir="ltr"><strong>Ashley Fellows</strong> earned a <strong>Highly Commended</strong> award in the Racial Justice category for the <strong>Lives Not Knives Campaign</strong>, a concept aimed at reducing knife crime among young people. Ashley’s campaign incorporates posters, wristbands, social media content, and other visual tools to raise awareness and provide support for those affected. <a href="https://www.creative-conscience.org.uk/winners/lives-not-knives-campaign" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Discover Ashley’s project here.</a></p> <p><strong>Asher Ross</strong> was also recognised as a shortlisted finalist, further underscoring the incredible talent within our BA (Hons) Graphic Design cohort. Asher has since applied and been successful with a residency at <a href="https://ramp.realideas.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Real Art Make Print</a> (RAMP) in Plymouth.</p>
