India Ritchie exhibits at 4th Screen Print Biennial in Tokyo, Japan

Congratulations to Painting, Drawing and Printmaking Technician, India Ritchie, who is showing her work 'I'm a Professional' at the 4th NBC Meshtec Tokyo International Screen Print Biennial, open this week.
<p><strong>Painting, Drawing and Printmaking Technician India Ritchie is showing one of her works at the 4th NBC Meshtec Tokyo International Screen Print Biennial this week. The exhibition opened on Monday 2 December and closes on Saturday 7 December.</strong></p> <p>India, who holds a BA degree in Textile Design from Goldsmiths, and an MA in Printmaking from Camberwell College of Art, is showing a silkscreened piece in the show entitled 'I'm a Professional', that depicts a pair of yellow printed washing up gloves.<br /></p>

<p>Describing the piece, India said: This work references the need by many artists to maintain paid work alongside developing their practice, and the dilemma this poses when referring to oneself as a 'professional artist'''. The work also makes direct reference to India's personal experience working in the kitchen of a London cafe whilst supporting herself through a Masters Degree.</p> <p>The NBC Meshtec Tokyo International Screen Print Biennial aims to promote the dissemination and advancement of screen printing and print technology in Japan and overseas. Submissions from all over the world are judged against various criteria including artistic quality and artistic expression.
