Students were tasked with producing saleable objects that not only reflected their existing contemporary arts practice, but also to make objects that will be attractive for a non-art audience.

The main caveat of the project brief demanded that their objects be sold for no more than £25 creating the opportunity to own an original work of art by an emerging fine artist at a highly affordable price.

Fine Art students have fully risen to the challenge, producing items ranging from limited edition prints, handmade books, DIY packs and wearable ‘art’.

Third year fine art lecturer and personal tutor Dr. Jane Jobling says:

“This project represents a real puzzle for the final year students: how do they distil nearly three years’ worth of disciplined study and creative practice into a single object that is available for sale at such relatively small amount of money?”

Third year fine art lecturer and personal tutor Neil Rose says:

“The group has fully engaged with this project and the resulting works for sale are highly decorative, collectable and really exciting. I would urge you to visit, it’s an opportunity to own a selection of really great and genuinely affordable artworks, a chance to buy unique gifts, and fill that empty frame or space on your wall.”

Third year Fine art student and Student Representative Kerry Jerwood-Ritchie adds:

“Following on from their personal studies, the students have been creating smaller pieces as a taster to show people that may be considering a degree in Fine Art, or any other degree at the college, the type of work that can be achieved.”

The event will take place on Saturday the 23rd of March between 2pm and 5pm at Studio 11, Regent Street, Plymouth.
