He’s since notched up a starry client list that includes The Independent Magazine and Guardian Weekend Magazine. And his long-term personal project "The Edge of Two Worlds", documenting the changing lives of a community of Innu in northern Canada, won second place in the Observer Hodge award in 2004, and the Marty Forscher Fellowship Award for Humanistic Photography in 2005.

On Saturday 9th March, students attending the National Art & Design Saturday Club (NADSC) enjoyed a photography Master Class with Dominick, which followed 5 weeks of photography sessions as part of their programme. His class focused on portraits, which forms a large base for Dominic’s own commissioned work. Students were introduced to the process of making a portrait on location, with techniques on setting up a shoot, using lighting and how to interact with the subject.

"It was great to have everyone working in a professional way together."
Jane Mooney - Student Ambassador

Dominick wanted to communicate to the students that portraits are a kind of collaboration between the photographer and the subject. He felt the session was well received “I was very impressed with their focus and engagement. They seemed to easily absorb a lot of what I presented, I only wish we had had more time.”

Jane Mooney, Student Ambassador for the college, has been working with the group throughout the programme and was impressed with the Master Class. “It was great to have a commercial photographer give the session. The professional knowledge and advice that Dom discussed with the group resulted in some fantastic photographs from the students and the group critique made the session and the class dynamic even stronger.

What can I say! We have creative, talented and ambitious young people and this workshop was extremely beneficial on a number of levels. It was great to have everyone working in a professional way together.

The master classes for the NADSC is a great opportunity for the students to interact with a creative professional, whilst getting hands on experience of what is needed and expected from a professional photographer.”

The National Art & Design Saturday Club gives young people aged 14–16 the unique opportunity to study art and design every Saturday morning at their local art and design college or university for free. As well as 30 weeks of inspiring classes ranging from drawing and sculpture to printmaking and stop-frame animation, Club members visit London's best museums and galleries and exhibit work in their own Summer Show at Somerset House. The programme was established by the Sorrell Foundation, a charitable organisation inspiring creativity in young people.
