Nicola Rosewarne appointed to lead new Performing & Production Arts course for 16 to 19-year-olds

We have appointed Nicola Rosewarne as Subject Leader for our UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing & Production Arts for 16 to 19-year-olds, an A-Level equivalent course launching at Palace Court in September 2019.

<p>Nicola, who will be in post from the end of August, is an experienced director, choreographer, performer and lecturer. After training at Dartington College Of Arts she joined Kneehigh Theatre, working for almost twenty years as a core company member, performer, movement director, and director. During this period she toured nationally and internationally, both indoors and out.</p> <p>She has also acted as a WILDWORKS core artistic team member, with responsibility for performance direction and performer training. Her last project with WILDWORKS was as Performance Director on the acclaimed ‘Enchanted Palace’ project at Kensington Palace. WILDWORKS is a site-specific theatre company based in Cornwall, specialising in large-scale outdoor promenade performances.</p> <p>Nicola has worked extensively as a freelance movement director, including working with Theatre Royal Plymouth and the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow. She teaches across a very broad range of specialisms and is currently most interested in the ‘pursuit of playfulness’ in performance and performer training.</p> <p>Nicola said: “I’m delighted to be join the team at Palace Court and can’t wait to meet the brilliant students who will be joining us in September.”</p>

<p>Taught at our dedicated pre-degree campus alongside film, photography, fashion, illustration and graphic design students, this unique <a href="https://www.plymouthart.ac.uk/courses/pre-degree/ual-level-3-extended-diploma-in-performing-production-arts-ibcp">UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing &amp; Production Arts</a> will give young people in the South West an introduction to the art of drama and acting, as well as the process of design, production and delivery of a performance.</p> <p>We were also recently awarded <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/posts/plymouth-college-of-art-awarded-ib-world-school-status">International Baccalaureate (IB) World School </a>status, becoming the first non-private education provider in the South West to offer the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP), which will be taught in conjunction with our existing A-Level-equivalent UAL Level 3 Extended Diplomas. This means that for the first time, from September 2019, 16 to 18-year-olds in the region will have access to this world-class framework of education, combining vocational skills with academic excellence.</p> <p>The IBCP is an internationally-recognised framework of career-related education for post-16 students that seeks to develop confident, critical thinkers who are prepared for modern life and equipped with the cross-cultural skills needed to succeed in their future careers, within the UK and across the world.
