Plymouth College of Art impresses in A-Level and Extended Diploma results
We at Plymouth College of Art are very pleased to have gained some excellents results for our A-Level and Extended Diploma programmes, on the back of official statistics released by the Department for Education.
Figures show that 86% of 16-18-year-olds studying on our A-Level course gained at least three A-Levels - placing us significantly above the national average, third best within Plymouth and fourth within a 25 mile radius.
And our achievement rate of 98% for the established BTEC Extended Diploma programme (equivalent to three A-Levels) puts us at the top of the table for schools and colleges within a 25 mile radius, third out of 425 institutions in the south west, and 21st out of over 4,000 nationally.
Nicky Gilmour, head of Further Education, said: "With our A-Level courses we want to immerse our students in the creative environment of the college. In all of our FE courses we encourage students to investigate their subjects through creative practice, making use of the specialist subject knowledge of our staff, to optimise their learning.
"We have developed our own practice-led approach to A-Level study, which is obviously working for the students as demonstrated by these results. It's a confirmation of our students’ and staff’s efforts.
"Our aspiration is to continue to develop innovative teaching and learning practices in the creative arts."
"With our first lot of students coming through we have provided some very good results, which we're really proud of."
This excellent success - along with the our recent Good OFSTED result, our fantastic School of Creative Arts, and our ongoing investment in state-of-the-art new facilities - colourfully demonstrates that we at Plymouth College of Art continue to lead successful art, design and media education for learners of all ages.
