As a photographer Danya hadn’t explored much in the way of film, but when English pro surfer Oli Adams asked him to join the team to film him on his search for a wave, Danya dived in.

Directed by Oli Adams, the film focuses on Oli and his 8 year search for the person who took a grainy photograph of a mysterious wave on a remote British island – un-surfed and un-named. Danya was invited into the project later on, working on the filming for about a year and a half.

“To get to the island we had to drive 14 hours, then get a ferry, then another 4 hour drive and then a lot of walking. The island only had a boat going to it once a week or something and the sea was really rough. It was crazy,” explains Danya.

This film was the first film second year student Danya has made and he is now looking to do more. His photography is often combined with his love for surf and travel, and has taken him to some amazing places around the world and his filming is following suit!

“My next project might be in Morocco and then Hawaii, but it’s all in the planning stages at the moment,” says Danya.

Alongside his studies he works for Ohana – an online surf, skate and snow shop that features news, lifestyle and more – as a photographer and ambassador.
