Top UK sportswear photographer Dominic Marley visits Fashion Communication
Wednesday, 12 April, 2023 — World-renowned photographer Dominic Marley discussed his approach to shooting sports campaigns for brands such as Nike and Adidas
<p dir="ltr"><a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/ba-hons-fashion-media-marketing">BA (Hons) Fashion Communication</a> students at Arts University Plymouth recently welcomed world-renowned photographer Dominic Marley to discuss his approach to shooting sports campaigns for household names and brands such as Palace, Nike, Adidas and Peloton. <br /></p>

<p dir="ltr">During the morning session, Dominic discussed how to develop relationships with clients and shared his experiences shooting for major brands. Dominic also shared how his style of photography has evolved over the years and provided insights into the inner workings of the fashion industry. </p>
<p dir="ltr">In the afternoon, Dominic demonstrated a number of lighting techniques he uses in the studio and on location to capture activewear campaigns. Dominic gave the students an excellent opportunity to observe, test and ask questions on how to create the perfect shot. He also shared tips on how to work with clients to create the desired end look.<br /></p>

<p dir="ltr"><a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/people/kirsty-smith">Kirsty Smith</a>, subject leader for <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/ba-hons-fashion-media-marketing">BA (Hons) Fashion Communication</a> commented, "Dominic's insights were amazing. He had a way of exploring the truth of industry, the hard work and dedication it takes to work in the field, through funny stories of success and failure. He was able to express to students what it takes to make it in a highly competitive field, leaving the students inspired and motivated to take their photography to the next level." </p>
