With the Summer Shows coming to a close and the new academic year creeping closer, here's what you can do to make the most of the last of the summer months.

Open Air Cinema is back! Summer is finally here and Plymouth Arts Cinema is showing movies for three wonderful weekends at Plymouth’s beautiful Tinside Lido. From Hollywood classics and cult favourites to screen treasures new and old, there will be something for everyone.

From Blade Runner to Mamma Mia!, there's something for everyone at the Open Air Cinema

Hosted by Central Park, the Big Tribute Festival brings some of the best tribute acts the UK has to offer to Plymouth. Expect tributes of Katy Perry, Cher, ABBA, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars and Ariana Grande to name a few!

5 to 7 August @ Central Park, Plymouth

Love Summer Festival is a small independent festival on the grounds of Newnham Park in Plympton. Small enough to be friendly, but big enough to have a proper party, Love Summer will bring live acts and DJs to Plymouth, with plenty of activities to keep you busy in between.

Pride

Pride in Plymouth Festival takes place at Plymouth Albion RFC on August 13 & 14

For the first time in 10 years, Pride in Plymouth will be at Plymouth Abion RFC for a two day festival. Highlighting the important work that Pride of Plymouth does all year round - from hate crime reporting and heritage work to educational work in schools and asylum seeker advocacy - as well as bringing together LGBTIA+ people and allies together for a two day celebration of love and diversity.

The legendary British Firework Championships return to Plymouth Hoe! Look to the skies above Plymouth Sound as six top pyrotechnic companies showcase their best work and battle to be crowned champion, each putting on an extra special ten-minute firework display guaranteed to leave you awestruck.

17 to 18 August @ Plymouth Hoe

Journey back to the glamour of Hollywood during the roaring 20’s. Silent movie star Don Lockwood has it all, a string of hit films and a studio-engineered romance with the most beautiful actress in town. What Don doesn’t know is that the silver screen is about to find its voice, and a chance meeting with a talented young chorus girl set to steal his heart promises to change both Don, and Hollywood, forever.

The West End Carnival is offering a full day of carnival flair. With live music and street performers, including a parade, enjoy some entertainment and explore the city’s independent quarter at the same time.
