As the colder evenings and the darker mornings creep up on us, Plymouth’s thriving arts and culture scene continues on at full steam. We’re also celebrating Black History Month featuring exhibitions, workshops, markets and more, so we have a bumper list of events for you this October.

Experience a traditional Oktoberfest as Plymouth is transformed for one weekend into a traditional Bavarian bash! With over 30,000 litres of beer available, top up your stein and prepare to be entertained from traditional folk to ‘Oompop’, expect foot stomping, table bashing and hearty singing galore. Grab some authentic German grub and raise your steins to Oktoberfest Plymouth!

Calling all sci-fi, toy and comic fans, DEVCON returns to Plymouth Guildhall this October. Featuring special guest stars from TV, film and comics, Q&A panels, an interactive gaming section, a dedicated cosplay area and over 70 plus stalls, get ready to geek out.
The popular cultural food demos from Diversity Business Incubator (DBI UK) are back! Teaching important cultural dishes to those wanting to learn, tickets for these events sell out fast, so get booking.
In collaboration with Theatre Royal Plymouth, DBI UK have organised 4 wellbeing sessions with local dance instructors who are passionate and vocal about mental health and wellbeing. Get your dancing shoes on!

British Art Show is back in Plymouth! Don’t miss the largest touring exhibition of contemporary art in the UK, showcasing at The Box, KARST, The Levinsky Gallery at the University of Plymouth and MIRROR at Arts University Plymouth. Delivered in partnership with Plymouth Culture.
Rhys Morgan will be responding to British Art Show 9 with his LGBTQIA+ sea shanties
Rhys Morgan explores the queer nature of the sea and maritime history through the tradition of shanty singing. The commission intends to disrupt this tradition by bringing together members of the LGBTQIA+ community in the South West to construct contemporary shanties which reflect the queer experience as well as probing the queer and homoerotic subtexts of shanties which have been passed down and reinterpreted over generations.
Get ready to get LOST IN MUSIC! Head back to the 70’s for one night with the Lost In Music Show, with live bands covering some of the greatest songs of all time from artists such as Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Earth, Wind & Fire, Sister Sledge and Chic.
