The new academic year is starting and we hope you’re all excited to join us or come back to your studies after a fun-filled summer. The fun doesn’t have to stop though as there’s plenty of things to do across Plymouth in the month of September.
Open Air Cinema is back! Summer is finally here and Plymouth Arts Cinema is showing movies for three wonderful weekends at Plymouth’s beautiful Tinside Lido. From Hollywood classics and cult favourites to screen treasures new and old, there will be something for everyone.

Now in its 25th year, Plymouth Punx Picnic 2022 is going to be the biggest picnic yet, taking place over four days, 39 bands, three DJs, two venues and one picnic! Across local venues The Nowhere Inn and The Pit & Pendulum, with a Saturday daytime meet up at Freedom Fields park, this is the perfect weekend to meet like minded punks and rockers.
Based on the true story of the chart-topping Cornish singing sensations and their hit 2019 movie, Fisherman’s Friends: The Musical is a feel-good voyage about friendship, community and music which smashed box office records in Cornwall. Climb aboard, find your sea legs and allow yourself to fall for this critically acclaimed musical - hook, line and sinker!

With an all-female DJ line-up, headlined by none other than BBC Radio 6 Music’s Nemone, and support from local DJs Gabriela and Leonie Prentice, you can expect a sonic journey like no other - from soul and disco to house and electronica - all to celebrate the summer of the ‘because the night belongs to us’ music and nightlife exhibition.
At the Masters Summer Show 2022, postgraduate students from Arts University Plymouth will showcase a variety of exciting and dynamic research projects undertaken within our specialist postgraduate community of practice, working across specialisms that include painting, drawing, sculptural installation, moving image, design and ceramics.
