Fab Lab Plymouth
Fab Lab Plymouth is an open-access digital fabrication laboratory based at Arts University Plymouth.
Our Fab Lab is a fully-kitted workshop that gives you the power to turn ideas and concepts into reality. We provide students, academic researchers, businesses and the public access to the very latest in digital technology to unlock the power of making.
Our Fab Lab is integral to Arts University Plymouth’s participation in Fab City Plymouth* and is part of Fab Foundation, the international Fab Lab network which includes over 1200 Labs across more than 30 countries.
Fab Labs are a place to learn, experiment and create for everyone from DIY inventors to entrepreneurs. The Fab Lab can be accessed through a range of services and memberships for business, the community, and for education. Arts University Plymouth’s Fab Lab is central to the delivery of many of our institutional research, innovation, projects and partnerships. This includes:
Education and entry level training, for example through the Smart Citizens’ initiative as part of the iMayflower project, and our international exchanges through the Atlantic Hubs Creative Youth Hubs project.
Intermediate training through the Knowledge Exchange mentorship programme that enables mentees to develop skills ready for the membership programme.
Industrial research, for example through the Environmental Futures and Big Data Impact Lab and our funded Knowledge Exchange activity that has supported regional businesses to access expert technical knowledge in digital design and manufacturing processes alongside the Fab Lab's prototyping facilities.
