Getting ready for September
<p>We’re really looking forward to welcoming you this September! To help you get prepared for starting your degree, here’s everything you need to know about enrolling, and beginning your journey with us.</p>
<p>There are two key steps you need to complete ahead of joining your course here at Arts University Plymouth. The first step is to activate your online account, and then the second step is to enrol online. Please follow the instructions below.</p>

<p><strong>Please note: If you have studied with us before, use your existing password</strong></p>
<p>Once your account is active, you’ll get an email in your university email account with instructions to complete your online enrolment.</p>
<p>You’ll need:</p><ul><li>A profile photo (for your student ID card)</li><li>Your National Insurance number</li></ul>
<p>Click the link in the email, complete the sections, and don’t forget to hit <strong>submit</strong> at the end.</p>

<p>The new term commences with <a href="https://www.artsuniplymsu.co.uk/event-list" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Freshers’ events </a>starting on <strong>Monday 14 September</strong>, followed by your <strong>Welcome Week</strong> starting with Registration on either <strong>Monday 21 September (Group 1) </strong>or<strong> Tuesday 22 September (Group 2)</strong>. Times and days for Registration vary depending on which course you are studying, so check the list below to see which group your course is in.</p>
<p>On arrival you will be given your ID card and lanyard, which allows you access to the campus, to take out books from the library, pay for printing and so on. <strong>You will need to show a form of ID</strong> in order for your card to be issued (a utility bill, bank statement, driving license, or passport).<br /><br />You should have enrolled online before you arrive at university. An email with instructions on enrolment will be sent after A-Level results day, and instructions will also be added above. </p>

<p>Your timetable will include a combination of on-campus studio practice, practical projects, experimentation and development of production work, technical workshops and online interactive lectures, seminars, small group tutorials, 1:1 tutorials, online crits, studio briefs and much more. <br /><br />On the subject specific timetables below, you can see the timetabled slots for practice based teaching, seminars, and technical delivery. You should fit further self initiated and self directed practice into your week. To support this, you will be able to book into our studios, IT Suites and baserooms to make work, as well as engage in technical workshops and booking support from our technical teams.</p>

<p>A time-limited MenB vaccine offer is available now for eligible young people, including those who will be starting university as undergraduates or moving into residential further education settings for the first time in autumn 2026.</p>
<p>The MenB vaccine programme is available across all four nations of the UK. If you are in <a href="https://www.nhsinform.scot/healthy-living/immunisation/meningococcal-b-menb-vaccine-for-young-people/who-can-get-the-meningococcal-b-menb-vaccine-for-young-people" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Scotland</a>, <a href="https://phw.nhs.wales/knowledge-article/menb-vaccine-for-young-people/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wales</a> or <a href="https://www.health-ni.gov.uk/news/health-minister-announces-men-b-vaccination-programme" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Northern Ireland</a>, please check the official guidance from Public Health Scotland, Public Health Wales or the Public Health Agency (Northern Ireland) for advice on how to access the vaccine in your area.</p>
<p><strong>How to get the vaccine</strong></p>
<p>The information below applies to England. If you are in <a href="https://www.nhsinform.scot/healthy-living/immunisation/meningococcal-b-menb-vaccine-for-young-people/who-can-get-the-meningococcal-b-menb-vaccine-for-young-people" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Scotland</a>, <a href="https://phw.nhs.wales/knowledge-article/menb-vaccine-for-young-people/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wales</a> or <a href="https://www.health-ni.gov.uk/news/health-minister-announces-men-b-vaccination-programme" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Northern Ireland</a>, please refer to guidance from your local public health authority.</p>
<p>How you’ll get your MenB vaccine depends on which eligible group you are in.</p><ul><li>If you are <strong>17 or 18 years old</strong> and were born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008, you can <a href="http://www.nhs.uk/book-menb" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">book online</a> now. First dose appointments begin from 20 July 2026. You must be registered with a GP surgery in England.<br /></li><li>If you are <strong>under 25, born on or after 21 July 2001 </strong>and for the first time this autumn you are starting university or starting at some further education colleges as a residential student, you can <a href="https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/vaccination-and-booking-services/find-a-pharmacy-that-offers-walkin-menb-vaccinations-for-young-people/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">get a MenB vaccine at a participating pharmacy</a> from 20 July. This includes international students, students from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, and those travelling abroad to study. You do <strong>not </strong>need to be registered with a GP surgery to use this service.</li></ul>

<p dir="ltr">Artway are a provider of art materials, technical drawing equipment and other creative supplies, and they have collaborated with Arts University Plymouth to create customised starter packs of supplies, tailored to our Undergraduate courses. </p>
<p dir="ltr"><strong>Please note that it is optional to buy these kits, they are not necessary for you to have at the start of your degree. </strong>Your course tutors will walk you through everything during your first few weeks and suggest alternatives if you need them.<br /><br />As your confidence grows and you discover your own artistic style, you’ll naturally build and upgrade your toolkit over time. However, if you would like to, you can now purchase a curated starter pack, which is specially discounted specifically for Arts University Plymouth students.*<br /></p>
<p>You can purchase this in advance, and it will be delivered directly to Arts University Plymouth, ready for you to collect during Welcome Week. If you don't get the chance to order your kit in advance, don't worry - more will be available to purchase once you arrive on campus.</p>
<p>Kits cost between £30 and £119, depending on your course, and you will receive a curated pack of materials and supplies, approved by your Course Leader, that will give you everything you need with a massive discount.</p>
<p>If you can't see your course below, there's no cause for concern. Although Artway stock an extensive selection of materials, there are some specific items that they do not stock. If your course is not listed below, then the team on your course will be in contact with you to let you know what you need, and the best place to order it.</p>

<p>Although Artway stock an extensive selection of materials, not all courses have starter kits set up. Students joining us on courses not mentioned above should check here to see if there are any recommended materials you should make sure you have before the start of your course in September.</p>
<p dir="ltr">The <a href="https://sites.google.com/aup.ac.uk/student-portal/home?authuser=0" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>Student Portal</strong></a> is home to all of Arts University Plymouth’s online resources for students.<br /></p>
<p dir="ltr">The content is organised into easy to navigate sections, such as the Library, Student Support and Registry. Each section has a description so you know where to go for the information you need.<br /></p>
<p dir="ltr">Most students access the Student Portal using the Student Login button near the bottom right of the website. You cannot access the Student Portal until you have fully completed your enrolment. <p>MyAUP is our campus app, which pulls together all the data and information held across the separate systems at AUP and presents in one easy to use place.</p>
<p>It allows you to see a bespoke selection of news, information and updates, tailored specifically to your level of study.</p>
<p>MyAUP gives you the ability to manage your academic life by having access to all relevant information at any given time, from any location. The app is designed to reduce the number of emails you are sent and also allows efficient delivery of urgent updates, i.e. campus closures or weather warnings.</p>

<p dir="ltr">There are lots of ways you can stay in touch with your creativity over the summer - why not have a look at our launchpad for creative inspiration below. (<strong>Password: AUP</strong>)<br /></p>
<p dir="ltr">If you are out and about over the summer, making creative work, taking photographs, or visiting exhibitions and events, we would love to see what you have been up to. You can share your work and ideas on social media with us using the hashtag <strong>#KeepCreating </strong>and by tagging us <strong>@artsuniplym</strong></p>
<p dir="ltr">Don’t worry! You won’t be assessed on <em>any</em> of this as part of your degree, we just wanted to start sharing some inspirational resources with you as you start your journey with us.</p>

<p>Find out about life at our independent arts university from the people who know us best — our real students. From finding the best cafes in Plymouth to course content and employability, our approachable student ambassadors are available to answer your questions on live chat.</p>
<p>A: It’s best if you use an incognito/private window on a laptop or desktop to log in to your university gmail account, especially if you have a personal gmail account. Go to your browser settings or tools (to the right of the address bar) and click on the new incognito/private window option. This will open a private browsing web page which you should be able to log in on. If you have any additional issues, please contact our <strong>IT Help Desk</strong> on <strong>+44 (0)1752 203 449</strong> or email <a href="mailto:ithelpdesk@aup.ac.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ithelpdesk@aup.ac.uk</a>.</p>
<p>A: Please check your university inbox for an email from AUP’s registry team. This will contain a link to complete your enrolment. You will need a <strong>profile photo for your student card </strong>and national insurance number at the ready.</p>

<p>A: You need to be enrolled by <strong>Thursday 17 September </strong>to be able to access our systems on your first day, so you can keep trying on your WIFI. Or we recommend visiting your local library to access your university account and enrol. If you live locally in Plymouth, you can also drop into Arts University Plymouth and we will help in-person. The campus is open<strong> Monday - Friday from 8.30am - 6pm over the summer.</strong></p>
