Louise Sharland

Employability and Careers Advisor
<p>Louise has worked as an Employability and Careers Advisor in secondary, higher and adult education for the last fifteen years, and has also worked in the charity sector (including prisons), supporting people who have experienced homelessness to get back into work. </p> <p>With a postgraduate qualification in Careers Information, Education and Guidance in Higher Education from the University of Warwick, Louise brings a person-centred, informed approach to her work, underpinned by research which has awarded her an Associate Fellowship with The Higher Education Academy. </p> <p>Louise’s role at Arts University Plymouth includes providing education, information and guidance sessions (including coaching), on a 1:1 level, as well as designing and delivering in class sessions on topics ranging from registering for self-employment to How to Talk About Your Art. </p> <p>Her work is underpinned by recognised careers and guidance theory and significant experience working in education and industry. </p> <p>In her spare time Louise writes fiction and completed her MA in Creative Writing (Crime) at the University of East Anglia. In March 2021, her debut novel <em>The Lake</em> was published by Avon Books/Harper Collins, and she then published her second novel <em>My Husband’s Secrets</em> in 2022. Her third novel, <em>Vengeance Street, </em>is the first in a series.
