Award-winning graduate Charley Dyson exhibition at Brownston Gallery

Brownston Gallery presents Everything Everything All the Time, a bold new exhibition of paintings by Arts University Plymouth graduate and 2023 Fresh Talent Award winner Charley Dyson.
<p>The <a href="https://www.brownstonart.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Brownston Gallery</a> in Modbury, one of the South West’s leading contemporary art galleries, is hosting <em>Everything Everything All the Time</em> by <strong>Arts University Plymouth graduate Charley Dyson</strong>. Running until <strong>Thursday 2 October 2025</strong>, the exhibition brings together four striking, large-scale paintings that mark the culmination of two years’ work.</p>
<p>The <strong>Brownston Fresh Talent Award</strong>, which Dyson won in 2023, is given annually to an Arts University Plymouth graduate showing outstanding promise. Since 2017, the award has been a launchpad for emerging artists, with Brownston showcasing their work as part of its annual programme.</p>

<p>Since graduating from <strong><a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/ba-hons-painting-drawing-printmaking">BA (Hons) Painting, Drawing & Printmaking</a></strong> in 2023, Charley Dyson has rapidly built a strong professional reputation. Alongside her award-winning degree show, she has exhibited at <strong>Peirson & Peirson Gallery</strong>, undertaken residencies with the <strong>Royal Drawing School</strong>, <strong>Southcombe Barn</strong> and <strong>Ocean Studios</strong> in Plymouth, and shown work internationally across Europe.</p>
<p>Her practice combines <strong>deep technical knowledge of painting, drawing and print</strong> with a bold, contemporary voice. The new works on show at Brownston Gallery reflect Dyson’s commitment to ambitious scale and material experimentation.</p>

<p>Charley’s success highlights the opportunities available to students studying <strong>BA (Hons) Painting, Drawing & Printmaking</strong>. Based in <strong>large, light-filled studios</strong>, students explore traditional, contemporary and hybrid approaches to image-making, gaining fluency across the six visual languages of line, form, space, movement, tone and colour. Technical workshops and hands-on tuition from practising artists help students build ambitious practices rooted in material exploration. </p>
<p>In the <strong>National Student Survey 2024</strong>, <strong>91% of students</strong> on this course responded positively to questions about teaching quality and skill development. Arts University Plymouth is also the <strong>top-scoring specialist arts university in the UK for student satisfaction for four consecutive years (2022–2025)</strong>. </p>
