Intersections: Fashion meets art in a celebration of creativity

Arts University Plymouth's BA (Hons) Fashion Design students Kiki Fraikue and Evalynne shine at Intersections runway
<p dir="ltr">Plymouth’s historic <a href="https://royalwilliamyard.com/"><strong>Royal William Yard</strong></a> was the setting for ‘Intersections: The Third Act by INSTINCT’, a runway event showcasing the bold and innovative work of nine emerging fashion designers and eight exceptional artists. Created in collaboration with <a href="https://ramp.realideas.org/"><strong>RAMP (Real Art Make Print) by Real Ideas</strong></a> and sponsored by <a href="https://www.wearecreative.uk/"><strong>Creative UK</strong></a>, the event celebrated the creative intersection of fashion, art, and design.</p> <p dir="ltr">Among the standout participants were Arts University Plymouth’s BA (Hons) Fashion Design students Kiki Fraikue and Evalynne, whose contributions embodied the spirit of this exciting event for fashion in the South West.<br /></p>

<h2><strong>Kiki Fraikue: From GQ and Theatre Royal to the Intersections runway</strong></h2> <p>Third-year <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/ba-hons-fashion-design"><strong>BA (Hons) Fashion Design </strong></a> student <strong>21-year-old Kiki Fraikue</strong> (<a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DBw1gFlIzEs/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&amp;igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==">@KikiFraikue</a>) continues to establish herself as a rising star in the fashion industry. Known for her brand <strong>Erasure Clothing</strong>, Kiki has been featured in <strong>GQ Magazine</strong> multiple times and recently had her designs showcased at the <strong>Theatre Royal Plymouth</strong> during the launch of ‘The Devil Wears Prada: A New Musical’.</p>

<p>Kiki’s submission for Intersections included bold, innovative streetwear inspired by her diverse influences.</p>

<p>Kiki’s creative journey began with the <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/pre-degree/ual-level-3-extended-diploma-in-art-design-fashion-textiles"><strong>UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art &amp; Design (Fashion &amp; Textiles) </strong></a> at Arts University Plymouth, where she honed her skills in screen printing and garment design. Her transition to undergraduate study highlights the supportive environment the university provides for emerging creatives.</p>

<h2><strong>Evalynne: Expressive designs with a sustainable focus</strong></h2> <p>Second-year BA (Hons) Fashion Design student <strong>21-year-old Evalynne</strong> (<a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DBy97QjMjYx/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&amp;igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==">@evalynne.art</a>) brought her passion for sustainability to the runway with designs crafted from second-hand materials and locally sourced textiles.</p>
“I’ve always had a love for creating but also a love for nature. Being sustainable is super important to me, so I try my best to use second-hand materials and buy from local businesses. I want my designs to be expressive but also show that you don’t need expensive materials to create a masterpiece.”
