In Pictures: MA Graduate Show 2024
Thursday, 19 September, 2024 — Marking the end of their postgraduate studies, Arts University Plymouth hosted the launch of the MA Graduate Show 2024, showcasing a diverse range of student work, including painting, ceramics, photography, jewellery, and more. Visitors from industry, family, and the public explored innovative projects within a thriving postgraduate community.
<p dir="ltr">Marking the end of their postgraduate studies, Arts University Plymouth welcomed visitors to the launch of the MA Graduate Show 2024, offering an exclusive chance to explore the incredible work showcased by this year's cohort of students. Industry partners, friends, family, staff, students and members of the public explored the exhibiting work of paintings, ceramics, photography, jewellery, sculptural installation, printmaking, moving image and virtual reality works, all undertaken within a specialist postgraduate community of practice. </p>

<p dir="ltr">The MA Graduate Show 2024 featured work from nearly 40 postgraduate students across programmes including<a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/ma-ceramics" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> MA Ceramics</a>, <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/ma-3d-design-crafts" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MA Craft & Material Practices</a>, <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/ma-drawing" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MA Drawing</a>, <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/ma-fine-art" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MA Fine Art</a>, <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/ma-illustration" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MA Illustration</a>, <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/ma-jewellery" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MA Jewellery</a>, <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/ma-painting" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MA Painting</a>, <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/ma-photography" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MA Photography</a>, and <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/ma-printmaking" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MA Printmaking</a>.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Some highlights from this year's show include:<br /></p><ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">MA Photography graduate <a href="https://www.instagram.com/rebeccacreative/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rebecca Williams</a>, who received the Board of Governors’ Award, presented by Arts University Plymouth Chair of Board of Governors <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/people/sue-brownlow" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dr Sue Brownlow</a>. This award recognises, highlights and celebrates the outstanding level of work that Rebecca presented through her time studying MA Photography, as well as recognising the obstacles she overcame throughout her journey here. </p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">The Dean’s Award, presented by <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/people/stephanie-owens" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Associate Professor Stephanie Owens, Dean of Arts, Design and Media,</a> was awarded to MA Painting graduate <a href="https://www.instagram.com/victoriamardon_/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Victoria Mardon</a>. Victoria’s work has been described as ‘visual puzzles’, her paintings consisting of complex, precise and hard-edged details. </p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Lastly, the Vice Chancellor’s Commendation Award, presented by <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/people/dr-stephen-felmingham" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pro-Vice Chancellor Stephen Felmingham</a>, to MA Fine Art graduate <a href="https://www.instagram.com/sue_green_art/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sue Green</a>. Sue was chosen for this award due to her outstanding creative and academic achievements, alongside her sustained commitment to Arts University Plymouth. </p></li></ul>
