Students celebrate success at SDC 2017 International Design Competition
Third-year students on our BA (Hons) Printed Textile Design & Surface Pattern programme had great successes last month at the regional final for Society of Dyers and Colourists 2017 International Design Competition.
First launched in 2002, the SDC International Design Competition is the SDC’s annual flagship competition, open to students in 14 countries.
The competition is free to enter and attracts hundreds of entries worldwide; previous winners have gone on to major success in the fashion and textile industry.
This year’s theme was "Design for a Circular Economy" with our students attending the South of England and Wales finals at South Gloucestershire & Stroud College.
Out of the five prizes awarded on the day, judged by a panel of industry experts, three went to our BA (Hons) Printed Textile Design & Surface Pattern third year students.
Students Sarah Court and Heidi Wyett received Highly Commended and Zoe Woodford received the runner-up prize.
“I feel very proud of Sarah, Heidi and Zoe, the judges commented that all three of them have very bright futures to look forward to, as their approach to design was mature and refined.” — Cathy Freeman, Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Printed Textile Design & Surface Pattern.
