Single Comprehensive Source of Information

We’re committed to ensuring that students understand what constitutes consent, harassment and sexual misconduct and how to make a disclosure, how to report it, the support available to them.

We are producing a training package that will be delivered alongside the existing year's units. This training will be mandatory and will focus on harassment and sexual misconduct, also looking at rape culture and how you can be an active bystander against harassment and sexual misconduct.

After completing the training, we hope you will be more confident in making a stand against harassment and sexual misconduct and advocating for others, be an active bystander, understand what does and doesn’t count as consent, and be able to dispel myths about sexual assault.

The course completion will be monitored (this is a requirement from the Office for Students) and evaluated, therefore you will be invited to complete a survey to help us evaluate and improve it.

We understand that for some people who may have been the victim of harassment and/or sexual misconduct the training could be triggering.

Therefore, if you feel strongly that you should not complete the training you may apply to opt out either from all of the training package or certain parts. We ask that you contact the course coordinator (Head of Compliance & Quality Systems who is also a SVLO) or alternatively someone you feel comfortable disclosing the information to, such as your course leader or someone in Student Support.

As part of the Condition we must also ensure that all staff members complete training. All staff members will receive a basic online training package. However, key staff members such as course leaders, technical tutors, Student Support staff and others who are more likely to receive a disclosure, will undergo in-person training. The Vice-Chancellor's Executive and Board of Governors will receive a specific package of in-person training.
