Andy Cluer

<p dir="ltr">Andy’s career spans over a decade of working in the visual arts sector. His career encompasses a diverse range of roles, including curatorial and projector coordinating, as well as leading on the technical production of major exhibitions. Throughout his career, Andy has worked with various educational institutions and National Portfolio Organisations including Tate, Arts Council England, Hayward Gallery, The Box, Exeter Phoenix, and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum.</p> <p dir="ltr">Andy also holds his own artistic practice, researching the parallels between auditory and visual awareness, examining the relationships between altered environments and the human experience. He often delivers his outcomes through a body of work which encompasses mediums including audio, drawing and sculpture.</p> <p dir="ltr">Andy holds a masters degree in Contemporary Art Practices, and also studied BA (Hons) Fine Art here at Arts University Plymouth, where he developed an interest in installation, sound, and spatial practice—themes that continue to influence his artistic work today. As a student, Andy’s work was featured in MIRROR (then named The Gallery at Arts University Plymouth), where he exhibited in the university’s Best of Summer Show exhibition. </p> <p dir="ltr">Following his graduation from BA (Hons) Fine Art at Arts University Plymouth, Andy was awarded two prestigious artist residencies, first at Spike Island in Bristol, one of the UK’s leading contemporary art centres, and later at KARST in Plymouth, an artist-led contemporary art space. These residencies provided him with dedicated studio time, mentorship, and the opportunity to develop new work within professional artist communities—experiences that helped shape his approach to exhibition-making and artist support.<br /></p> <p dir="ltr">After completing artist residencies at Spike Island in Bristol and KARST in Plymouth, Andy went on to earn a master’s degree in Contemporary Art Practices, further deepening his research into auditory and visual awareness, altered environments, and human experience. Alongside his own practice, he has built a career in curatorial programming, exhibition production, and technical coordination, supporting ambitious exhibitions at major galleries and cultural institutions. His expertise in project management, installation, and artist collaboration makes him a strong addition to the MIRROR team.<br /></p>
