Jim Sturgeon
Jim has worked at Arts University Plymouth since 1994, achieving his Higher National Certificate for Print Production and Management in 1998, and his Diploma in teaching in 2014. He is knowledgeable with pre-press, press and post-press production techniques, and is interested in various hand bookbinding techniques, through deconstruction and replication.
As a technical coordinator Jim supports a range of pre-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as Illustration, Foundation Art & Design, our Extended Degree programme, Graphic Design, Fashion, Fashion Media & Marketing, Photography and Fine Art, running cross-college specialist workshops that enable students and staff to benefit from his knowledge and skill set using InDesign and Photoshop to originate files from digital to print and incorporating different finishing techniques. These include calendar making, books, pamphlets, zines, and celebration cards along with binding methods such as Japanese stab binding, sewn sectioning and case binding to provide quality finished products.
